Here we are in the beautiful month of April. One of our absolute favourite things to do this month is to visit Arundel Castle near where we live to see their stunning tulip displays, followed by a sit on a bench with buttered hot cross buns, or perhaps more accurately, butter with a bun ha ha! Do check out any gardens that are open near you, it’s one of the simple pleasures in life and as well, we love to crunch through the earthy bluebell woods to walk amongst a carpet of blue, it is a wonderful ...
Welcome friends to the marvellous month of March! The clocks change YAY! Daffodils, tulips and blossom emerging, what could be more beautiful? A dear friend gives us yearly National Trust membership and we just love visiting the spring gardens more than any time of year and this particularly holds a special place in my heart as I was brought up on a National Trust property in Suffolk where my dad was estate manager, it’s given me a complete love of nature and the countryside. Do try and visit ...
Welcome to the beautiful month of February. The mornings and evenings are getting lighter, the birds are chirping, and snowdrops are poking their little heads through. Spring is on the way and of course February is the month of LOVE.
I think we’re all looking for ways to have cost effective moments of joy and I thought I’d share some of my personal favourites. I am a wild romantic at heart, but I also like to think of February and the month of love not being restricted to mere ...
Well, here we are at the beginning of a New Year – 2023. Here are a few personal reflections on the coming year.
When I was a little girl, I went on a Girl Guide Camp and my leader gave us giggly girls a piece of advice and I’ve never forgotten it…
I hope this finds you having enjoyed a lovely festive celebration. We’re now at that in-betweeny time between Christmas and New Year, so I wonder what this time will involve for you?
When we look back over the seasonal periods of the past two years, it makes one very grateful to be able to enjoy the face-to-face gatherings of friends and family, concerts, pantomimes, neighbourly drop ins and so on; we don’t take lightly the opportunity to meet, eat and share life together. Even ...
Welcome to the beautiful winter month of DECEMBER. We’ve all experienced the rather strange and uncertain festive seasons of the past two years, so it makes one very grateful to look forward to face-to-face gatherings of friends and family, live nativity plays, office parties, neighbourly drop ins and so on; we don’t take lightly the opportunity to meet, eat and share life together. Even if we are widespread and this isn’t possible, at least we’ve all learned to Facetime and ...
Welcome to the beautiful crisp month of November. The clocks have changed, the nights have drawn in and we adjust our minds and bodies to all things warm and cosy to embrace the delicious season of autumn-fest. T-shirts, shorts and flip-flops are replaced with wooly jumpers, leggings and boots and the sharp air gives you energy and focus, I just love it.
For me, November is a transitional month and although it’s too early to get out the Christmas decorations, I start to add some berries ...
Welcome to October, or the season of Autumnfest as I like to call it!
It’s when the nights are drawing darker earlier, the crisp leaves can be heard underfoot and the winter woolies are starting to make their appearance again. If you’ve been an avid reader of my diary for some time, you’ll know I love to dress my house in all things autumnal when the seasons change. It can be something as simple as stringing along some fairy lights, collecting fir cones and conkers to jazz ...
