Welcome to OPTIMISTIC October!

If you read my diary and blog regularly, and thank you if you do, I love to name the month in a very optimistic way! I think it’s because there comes a point in life (the benefit of getting slightly older) when you realise how precious and beautiful every single day is, let alone a new month which always brings something unique and special.

When I think of this golden month of October, I see it through the photographic lens of clear blue skies, red and yellow foliage, crisp clean air and that unique autumnal feeling that belongs to this beautiful season. 

For Mark and I, our month will include some lovely traditions, including turning the inside decorations to orange, amber and all things Octoberfest, pressing leaves for table displays. Scrumping apples, plus remnants of my kitchen garden become a base to make pickles, chutney and jams, I love the smell in my kitchen as these bubble away and fill my shelves with gifts I can take to friends. 

We’ll definitely plan an autumn trek through our local woods to capture the changing foliage and take our little ones to the pumpkin farm, they love to do their carving with their favourite uncle! For sure we’ll be going to our favourite pub in The Downs to enjoy a crackling fire and Sunday roast. So, all in all, October is a wonderful month and a very special one to us in TEMPLESPA and here’s why.

October is our Product With Purpose month where we partner with a chosen charity and donate a significant amount through our REPOSE Relaxing Night Cream. We have previously profiled some incredible charities and in the past 10 years alone we have raised £1.7m, it’s at the very heart of what we do. I am therefore very thrilled and proud to announce we are partnering with Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland. 

These are both powerful forces for change, improving the lives of people living with dementia and providing support for their loved ones. I’m sure many of us have been affected directly or know someone experiencing dementia to understand why this is such a worthy cause for us to support this year. 

In our time of working with Alzheimer’s Society it has blown us all away with the outstanding work they do. From campaigning for a better and brighter future for all and providing fairer and easier access to the social care system to actively working on groundbreaking research, improving diagnosis and of course, caring for people with dementia and their loved ones around them.

What was a particular highlight for me is their network of 600+ Dementia Advisers across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, who are there for families who don’t know where else to turn at the point of crisis. The Dementia Connect Support Line is open 7 days a week, providing a listening ear, specialist guidance and supporting people in accessing the services they need. The feeling that you’re not alone and there’s always someone at the end of the phone to listen and support is a guiding hope of light that so many need during these times. 

I am sure REPOSE needs no introduction to you, but just in case you haven’t yet experienced it, allow me to tell you a little about it. It is our number one best-selling product and the very first formula we approved some 24 years ago and a night hasn’t passed during that time that I haven’t used it.
