What to look for when
CHOOSING YOUR SUNSCREEN FOR THE FACE

1. The label “broad spectrum”
“Broad-spectrum” sunscreens are those which are effective against both UVA and UVB ultraviolet rays.
2. An SPF rating
The “SPF” value represents the protection against UVB rays, the ones responsible for sunburn and skin cancer. All sunscreens in the UK/EU are required to have protection against UVA rays (the rays responsible for skin ageing and deeper cancers) of at least one third of the SPF value.
What is in our
SPF Moisturisers?

UVA Filters
Our core UVA sun protection ingredient in our SPF moisturiser range is Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane. This ingredient has been used for decades as a result of its effectiveness in inhibiting UVA damage. It absorbs the sun’s rays and limits the amount that enters your skin.

UVB Filters
Our UVB filter is Octyocrylene, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate & Ethylhexyl Salicylate. These ingredients all work together to enhance protection, support each other and absorb a significant number of UVB rays to prevent the level that penetrates the skin.

Rocket
This wonder leaf is not just good in our diets, it’s also packed full of antioxidants to help protect the skin cells from free radical damage. Rocket is high in minerals to help combat and neutralise the effect of free radicals on the skin.

Ginseng
It has been demonstrated that Indian Ginseng protects the skin from screen-emitted blue light and overall digital pollution. Blue light is a major contributor to skin ageing, so this ingredient will keep skin looking youthful.

Sodium Hyaluronate
Naturally found in the epidermis and dermis of the skin, this ingredient has incredibly high hydrating properties and is effective at reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Due to its low molecular weight, it an easily penetrate into the deeper layers of the epidermis to provide deep hydration.

Vitamin E
Sun exposure can create greater attacks from free radicals on the skin. Vitamin E works well as an antioxidant to capture free radicals, which try to scavenge molecules in your body. This protection helps combat signs of ageing by limiting damage to collagen which is a main cause of signs of ageing.
FAQ's
A: An SPF moisturiser provides two functions. It provides protection from UVA/B. It also provides hydration which keeps the skin looking supple and fresh.
A: A factor 50 sun cream should keep you protected for up to 50 times longer than if you skin were unprotected. Whereas, if you wear an SPF 30 it will only keep you protected for 30 times as long. This is of course also dependent on aspects such as our skin pigment.,
A: In theory, all sunscreens are chemicals. Mineral sunscreens normally refer to zinc or titanium dioxide, these form a physical barrier and quite literally reflect the UV light away from the skin. Chemical sunscreens absorb UV rays and convert it to heat which is released through the skin. We use them as they provide a more efficacious texture and feel to the products.
